Fernando Cobelo for NPR

Renee Horton has spent a lot more time than usual in her kitchen this year.

For Horton, cooking during the coronavirus pandemic has meant consistency at a time when everything has changed.

“I think I ate chicken and waffles at the beginning because that was, like, my true comfort food,” Horton

We just cannot in fairness do it this year. 2020 has just been too long and too weird to make such distinctions.

With few exemptions, the Naughty and Nice list at Food Safety News has traditionally been for individual achievements or miscues. During this pandemic year, we’ve all been on courses that we would not have otherwise taken. It’s been a year of Zoom calls, virtual conferences, curbside pickups, online grocery orders, facemasks, and cleaning supplies of every
